Fuel pressure test. First thing to do is replace the fuel filter. If that does not help, then test the fuel pump with a fuel pressure tester. If you can't hear it run for a few seconds when the key is turned on, either the pump is bad, or the fuse is blown, or the fuel pump relay is defective. Even if you hear it running, it may be so weak as not to work properly.
Where is the fuel pump fuse and relay on 1994 BMW 525i and how can I test to see why my fuel pump won't work
start the car, rev to 5500, if it sputters going up, not enough fuel pressure
With a fuel pressure gauge connected to the fuel rail.
casey,figure it out!!
Yes. Fuel pressure test. Make sure the pump is running, fuse is not blown, filter is replaced, relay is good.
pull fuel pump out ,access cover under rear seat. run hot and groung wires directly to pump from battery.
Check your fuel pump and fuel injectors. Have a fuel pressure and flow test done.
Probably a bad fuel pump. Do a fuel pressure test.
Fuel pump pressure test.
I would suspect fuel delivery problems. Start with replacing the fuel filter. If it still has trouble have a fuel pressure test done to test the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator.
If you do not hear the pump run of course it is bad or the fuse or relay is defective. Even if it is running the pump may be defective and not pumping any fuel. A fuel pressure test will verify the condition of the fuel pump. Make sure you replace the fuel filter.
The fuel pump is located on the top of the fuel tank. The sending unit and fuel pump are one unit. Test access to wiring can be gained by an access cover under the lower back seat. Pump can only be changed by droping the tank. Hope this helps!
