There is a tensioner bolt that is connected to the alternator. You have to screw in the bolt, which will pull the alternator out and tighten the belt.

If it's the alternator belt, loosen the bolts holding the alternator in place, then use something like a hammer handle to pry the alternator away from the engine which will tighten the belt. depending on the style of belt, on the alternator belt there is an adjustment just below the slider holding the alternator, you just simply tighten it until belt becomes tight.
First make note of how the belt is routed. Loosen the tentioner bolt at the alternator just enough to remove old belt. Replace with new belt and tighten just enough to where you can twist the belt only a half turn. Don't over tighten!
