on my 85 2.0L there are timing marks inside the timing belt cover. take the round rubber plug out and you'll see 2 mks-bump the starter til the mark on the sprocket in there lines up between those marks. Do this only if you believe the truck is way out of time and you need to line it up with top dead center.....Now...if you are using a timing lite to time the thing,,,,,you can easily see the timing bracket on the lower portion of the timing belt cover....the timing mark on the front balancer pulley is only a small notch on my 2.0. Suggest you mark it with white paint- it is easier to see with a timing mark..I think my engine times at 10 degrees before TDC.....check out the ranger station forums for a lot of good advice on the 4 bangers hope this helps..pappy
The slave cylinder on a 1988 Ranger can not be repaired. The cylinder will have to be replaced, then the system bled.

Should be on firewall next to master cylinder
The slave cylinder for a manual transmission hydraulic clutch is inside the manual transmission bellhousing
Highest and lowest cylinders should not exceed a 10% difference
Answer1-4-2-5-3-6 Distributor rotates clockwise. Number 1 cylinder is located passenger side front of engine. Number 4 cylinder is on the driver side front. 3 located passenger rear of engine and 6 is on driver rear of engine.
