So long as the cut stops bleeding, you treat it the same as any cut:

  • wash the cut with warm soapy water and keep it clean
  • you may put some first aid salve on the cut if you want to (you don't have to) - there are several which contain a mild pain killer
  • you may put a bandage over the cut to keep it clean or to keep it from rubbing against things and getting re-injured
  • take acetaminophen for the pain - don't take aspirin or ibuprofen or naproxen because those cause more bleeding
  • you may put some ice on the cut for 10 minutes at a time to help with the pain
If it won't stop bleeding, you need to see a doctor for stitches.

put ice on it for a while and also get blistex or any other lip balm to help close the cut
