Cheapest way to do it in my opinion, and its still not cheap enough, is to buy the same truck model in 4x4 from a junkyard and drop your body on the 4x4 frame, swap the transmission, transfer case, gears, and axels. Lots of time and effort goes into this job, and you need help from a friend or a relative to get it done.
86-97 are compatible with same (2wd must be from 2wd, 4x4 must be from 4x4 and 6 cyl must be from 6 cyl)
If it is a 4X4 it is a K series if it is 2wd it is a C series
Pull the 4x4 lever or turn the 4x4 nob depends on what year the truck is
YES it is. But you must stop if you want to go to 4 low.
They will fit on a 4x4, not on a 2wd.They will fit on a 4x4, not on a 2wd.
yes the true z71's are 4x4 but people put the z71 decals on there standard 2wd trucks because the z71 is the most popular Chevy truck
Depends, Half ton 2wd and Half ton 4x4 are different. Two wheel drives are 5 lug, and 4x4s are 6 lug, Except the newer 1/2 ton hd, the 2wd hd's are 6 lug, same as 4x4. 1/2 ton 2wd- 5 lug spacing I believe is a 5" 1/2 ton 4x4- 6 lug spacing 5.5"
No, they are all 2WD.
1985
Depends on area. In Oregon in 2013, the 2wd average $2000, the 4x4 are actually hitting $4k-$5k in great shape
that depends on the truck if its 2wd short bed then its 13.5 gallons, if its 4x4 or long bed then its 17 gallon tank
Yes it's a straight drop end. Just remember though that 2wd transmission are a bit different than 4x4 transmissions (Different splines)
