The air bag indicator light stays on when there is a problem with the system. Take it to a dealer and have them hook up the diagnostic tool to determine the specific problem. I my case there was a wire harness short that could cause a random air bag deployment. The cause of the short was improper intallation of the harness. Parts and labor were $120.
