Not knowing the make and model of your multimeter leads to a generic answer. Look for a symbol on the main dial that looks like a tilde over the letter V. This would be the voltage scale. Move the selector dial to this position and you are ready to read voltages.

What is the voltage of a small electric heater if the heater is drawing 12 amperes and has a resistance of 10 ohms?

Voltage is current times resistance, 1.2 x 110 = 132 volts.

How does a resistor help an electric heater?

An electric heater is a resistor. It is a resistor with the right amount of resistance to take the required amount of power at the specified voltage. With a case to put it in and louvres to let the warm air circulate, that is a heater.Resistance in ohms is equal to the voltage-squared and divided by the watts.

How a electric heater works 2 references?

An electric heater is a resistor that dissipates electric power when a voltage is connected across it and a current flows through it. The amount of power in watts is equal to the voltage times the current in amps. Typical space heaters for use in the home are 1.5 kW to 3 kW to heat a single room.

Why does my gas water heater need to be hooked up to a 30 amp breaker with 220 volts?

I think you need to do some checking, A GAS water heater does not normally need electrical service that large- an ELECTRIC water heater will. So- just what do you have- gas or electric?

A 50 gallon electric water heater that uses 2 elements is normally what voltage?

What does high or low voltage do to the capacity of an electric heater?

Yes, voltage effects the output of electric heaters. The wattage output rating of the heater will not be reached due to the lower applied voltage. For example if the heater is 5000 watts at 277 volts, the current is I = W/E 5000/277 = 18 amps. The resistance of the heater is R = W/I (squared) = 5000/18 x 18 (324) = 15.43 ohms. Applying 220 volts on the same heater whose resistance is 15.43 ohms results in this new heater wattage rating. W = E (squared)/R = 220 x 220 (48400)/15.43 = 3137 watts. W = watts, I = amperage, R = resistance in ohms and E = voltage.

Is the hot water heater gas and electric?

Gas heater & electric heater both are available.

If the current flowing through an electric heater increases from 6 to 12 amp while the voltage remains the same the heat produced by the heater will be what?

Since power is current times voltage, doubling current while keeping voltage the same will double the power. Ignoring slight non-linearity, if the power doubles, the heat will double.

The main feature of an efficient electric heater is, that is used up to 30% less engery than a conventional electric heater. This reduces the cost of the heater.

How many watts does an electric heater use?

An electric heater is an electric appliance that convert electrical energy in to heat. Working principle of an electric heater as per "Joule heating theory" When electric current passes through a resistor that electric energy convert to heat (best and simple example is a spring type heating element). When Voltage applied both end of a wire/spring type Resistance wire, voltage flow and this voltage help that wire to heat up and convert in to heat. A Resistance wire quality, length & thickness depend how many time heat spread and resist with that heat. K.watt/ Watt = Applied voltage x Ampere. Many quality and types of electric heating elements are there depend upon purpose of use. Few best heating elements known as Kanthal wire, Nicrome wire, Ureka wire, Super Kanthal, Silicon Carbide heating elements etc.
