The word classic is an adjective used to describe an idea, design, happening, or artistic expression that is recognized as being able to stand the test of time. Thus an older car in exceptional condition for it's age would be a classic, or a song that, though written generations ago, is still recognized and enjoyed by the people living today. In the obverse, a mistake that is expected to be remembered for years to come may also be referred to as being classic.
