It will most likely fail again. The Lucas just softens and makes the seals expand to help seal the leak. They are usually on temporary.

Your 2001 Toyota corolla SHOULDN'T use 1 quart of oil for every refill of the gas tank. If yours is doing this, i would stop driving it immediately because if you lose enough oil, your engine will overheat and cease itself in place, literally welding it so it will never move again. I believe that you have a very severe oil leak and would get it checked right away.
