CDMA means Code Division Multiple Access.

it's a way to have many users sharing one media (air for example, since CDMA is used in GSM communication)

Principle: each users uses a "spreading code" to cypher its data using usually a "XOR" algorithm with a code.

"1" XOR "1100" => "0011"

"0" XOR "1100" => "1100"

In order to be able to recovers the original signal, all users have to use "orthogonal codes" (cross-corelation = 0), these codes are usually from a Walsh Matrix (see Wikipedia for more details)

The receiver processes the corelation of the signal with all the sender's codes. The result which is the most relevant is said to be the original data. (see Wikipedia for more details on CDMA)
