* One page at a time. * Do 300 pages of research, write 200 pages of first draft, and edit it down to 100 pages. Seriously -- over-research. Dig a lot, until the content is second nature to you. Do lots of outlining and planning. * Break it down and view it as several smaller works of research. For instance, for a 100-page, five chapter paper, view it as 5 20-page papers; each needs it's own introduction and conclusion (even if they are mini) and that will make the project as a whole a lot easier to swallow. * Time management is also crucial if you have a deadline, and breaking it down and assigning each 'mini paper' a certain amount of time can really help ease the process.
