It doesnt. In the eyes of the insurance carrier... you are still considered a good driver.. and are still entitled to the same discounts as a person with a clean record.

If you are a CDL driver the speeding ticket is considered a serious violation and could cause an increase in your company's insurance. It will most likely cause an increase in your personal insurance.

The other problem if you are CDL is that another serious violation in the next three years will result in suspension of your CDL license.

Many insurance carriers are now excluding company drivers with three or more tickets on their MVR. If you are CDL you are required to report the speeding ticket to your employer.

You can check with your DMV to see if the "No Chains" violation is on you MVR. If so this will also show to the insurance company increasing the likelyhood of you being excluded from driving.

If someone else is driving your car and gets a speeding ticket will it affect your insurance?

No. Speeding tickets are issued to the driver not the vehicle.

If you get a speeding ticket while driving somebody elses car will their insurance go high?

The fact that a driver gets a speeding ticket has nothing to do with the owner of the car(unless it's the speeders.) The vehicle owner's insurance company will never know about the ticket, but your's will (or your parents) if you're a minor and insured under your parent's insurance. However, if there's a reportable accident involved with the speeding ticket, then the owner of the vehicle,(I'm speaking only for New York State, not sure about others), will be considered responsible for the accident, since the insurance company will now know, but the speeding goes with the driver.

If you get a speeding ticket while driving a rental car will your insurance go up?

Insurance rates are based primarily on your personal driving habits and record, so if you receive a ticket while driving a rental car it can still be reported to your insurance company because the citing officer has your drivers license information. So in short, it is definitely possible for your insurance company to raise your rate based on a speeding ticket you received while driving a rented vehicle.

What sorts of liability do I have if I am driving a business car for my company?

If your company pays the insurance, than you are just considered a registered driver of the vehicle, so if you damage the vehicle nothing should come directly out of your pocket. With that being said, no matter your situation, you will always be liable for your actions, meaning that if you get a speeding ticket, you will have to pay for it out of your pocket.

Can you get a speeding ticket while passing another vehicle?

In some states and countries the passing lane on a highway is reserved strictly for passing and you can get a ticket for driving in it when you are not passing. In other jurisdictions, you are permitted to drive in the passing lane. This is why you need to be aware of local friving laws when you are driving away from your home.

If a speeding citaton is given with company insurance info instead of personal whose insurance and record is affected?

When a speeding citation is given, it is given to the driver... not the owner of the vehicle nor the person (or company) who is insuring the vehicle. Therefore, the driver's insurance and driving record will reflect the charge. If this person was driving a company vehicle (and therefore insurance paid by the company) then the companies insurance policy COULD be affected but not always. The cost of corporate insurance policies that cover multiple vehicle and/or drivers are determined by many factors such as # of vehicles, types of vehicles, company claim history, # of drivers and ages there of. Most companies must report their drivers information to the insurance company which will then check the drivers records which will then allow the insurance company to 'rate that driver' and asses a cost for insuring that driver. Some companies will refuse employ drivers with too many moving violations... or not let them drive company vehicles. I hope the answered your question.

Can you drive a company vehicle with a suspended license Would I be liable if they still allowed me to drive?

If your license is suspended, you should not be driving any vehicle, including a company vehicle. The company should not allow you to drive.

If you get a speeding ticket while on company business can I expect the company to pay for it?

It might if your company requires it. It really doesn't matter since the ticket is tied to your license number and not necessarily the vehicle you drove. They just happen to write down the vehicle description that you were in at the time.
