Earlier Answer

He thinks it was a HUGE MISTAKE. He has been against the war since the very beginning. He will start pulling troops out of Iraq immediately when he becomes President.

Later Answer

Obama believes that going to war in Iraq was a mistake, which says that all the soldiers that have fought for this country under George Bush might have lost their lives for no reason.

Obama opposed expanding the war to Iraq because al-Qaeda was in Afghanistan and Pakistan and he felt that the war in Iraq would distract America from capturing bin Laden. When America began occupying Iraq, there was no al-Qaeda in Iraq. Al-Qaeda in Iraq was created during America's occupation of Iraq when America controlled Iraq.

The reason for invading Iraq stated by George Bush was that Iraq had weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). The data supporting the existence of WMD was wrong, either deliberately manipulated by George Bush, or he made a mistake.

After it was proven that Iraq had no WMD, George Bush said America must continue fighting until Saddam Hussein was captured. After Saddam Hussein was hung by the neck until dead, George Bush said we had to stay for Nation Building. That means that we must stay until the Iraqi's decide that they want American style government - Not British style, not Indian style, not French style, not Jordan style, not Egyptian style, no they must choose American style government before George Bush will leave Iraq!

70% of all Iraqis and the Iraqi puppet government put in place by America want the American occupation of Iraq to end. George Bush's popularity has dropped to under 25% in America because he refuses to listen to Americans and end the occupation of Iraq.

Barack Obama wants to follow the will of the American people and the Iraqi people and end the occupation of Iraq.

Barack Obama wants to follow the will of the people? See "Obamacare. Recently, more than 500 shells containing deadly chemical weapons were found in Iraq. Sadaam Hussein killed over 400,000 of his own people, so this vindicates Bush.

Barack Obama is in favor of protecting the country, but he is opposed to the way the so-called "War on Terror" was conducted under President Bush. Mr. Obama was an opponent of the war in Iraq, for example, since Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. He wanted to focus American resources on finding Osama bin Laden (which he did), bringing troops home from Iraq (which he did), and winding down the war in Afghanistan (which is being done). But Mr. Obama also wanted to make sure the military was equipped to do the job wherever there might be threats to the United States, including going after Al Qaeda in whatever countries they might be hiding.

When Obama was first elected, he wanted to completely end all wars that the U.S. was involved in. He is now realizing, it is not that easy to do so.

Can Barack Obama send solders to Iraq and stop the war?

Answer 1He promised when he was elected president that he would end our involvement in Iraq, and that is exactly what he did.Answer 2It is unclear what the question is asking. If it is asking if Barack Obama has the power to send soldiers to Iraq and he has the power to stop the war in Iraq, then yes. As president of the United States he has the power to move troops wherever he desires. He also has the power to end military engagements. If the question is whether Barack Obama can do both actions at the same, then no. Sending soldiers to a foreign nation would not stop a war, it would start one.
