What was the result of the Oregon Trail?

Because of the Oregon Trail people were able to settle out west and lead the way for other settlers. Before the Oregon Trail no one lived out west and the only time it had been explored was on the Lewis and Clark expedition, and during that they stuck to the Columbia River and followed it to the Pacific and back, but had never wondered outside of that area. I am from Oregon and it is a big thing to us because I grew up on the Columbia River and use to swim in it during the summer. It allowed people opportunity to expand to the west.

Is the Trail of Tears made out of tears?

No, this is a metaphor. The Trail of Tears was such a horrible chapter in US history. Thousands of people from the tribes who were force relocated died along the way. They were treated so poorly, and pushed so hard, that the various routes taken were collectively known as "The Trail Where We Cried" by those who were forced to walk it. Later, the name was shortened to The Trail of Tears.

The US and UK made no agreement concerning the Oregon Trail per se. The trail was a stretch of land that both the US and UK recognized to be inside of US territory and led from St. Louis, Missouri to the western edge of Montana Territory (now the State of Montana). The agreement that the UK and US made was with respect to the Oregon Territory. Moderation won out over calls for war and the 49th parallel was agreed to as the place of the divide, America getting all land south and the UK, all land north in the Oregon Treaty.
