The traditional three port fuel selector valve is designed to allow the operator to switch between two fuel tanks, without having to switch the supply hose from one tank, to the other. Each of the two outboard, (outside) ports, go to your fuel tanks. The middle port is the outlet to your engine.
when you have two tanks on your vehicle the fuel tank selector valve chooses what tank will send fuel to the engine. both tanks run into the valve
The fuel tank selector valve on a 1993 Ford F150 with a 4.9L engine is on the left side frame rail under the driver side floor pan forward of the side fuel tank in-line on the fuel lines. Follow the fuel lines from the side tank forward until you see the selector valve. The valve will have at least three fuel lines and one electric plug with wires plugged into it.
inside the in tank fuel pump.
Is there a rocker switch just to the right of the headlight switch ?
What is the question? Questions typically start with Who, What, Where When, Why or How... This is a comment... Thanks!
tank is built with two fuel drains, 1 normal use, second is reerve. when normal doesn't provide fuel, turn fuel selector valve to reserve position for the last 3/4 of a gallon of fuel in the tank. Look for the gas line coming out of the tank and it will go into fuel selector/cut-off valve. Most m/cs work this way.
It is bolted with 2 10mm bolts to the chasis underneathe the drivers side. The only tank selector is in the switch on the dash. It transfer power to each tank to activate the electric fuel pumps for each tank
Underneath Driver side Cab as it meets the bed and it looks like this
Attached to the frame on the driver side just about under where the driver would sit.
( No ) there should be a selector switch ( or valve ) to use to select which tank you want to use
Autozone sells a kit using an electrical valve instead of the pressure sensing valve. Add a couple of inline fuel filters to act as the gas resevoir and clip in 12v from each fuel pump to switch the valve. Google your questions, and you will find this solution documented with pictures.
inside of the frame on the drivers side just in front of the front tank.just follow the fuel lines coming off of the front tank
