Any plant needs 3 things to survive, sunlight, water, nutrients.
Sunlight: In the rainforest, sunlight is very scarce in the lower heights as all the canopy traps most of it with the leaves of other trees. So trees growing in the rainforest grow fast and very tall to reach the sunlight. The leaves of the tree are also broad to absorb as much sunlight as it can.
Water: Due to the above reason, water is also taken quickly at the upper canopy. Hence leaves are often big and v shaped. Big to get as much water as possible, and provide a larger area for dew condensation in the morning and v shaped to capture water and not let it escape.
Nutrients: Due to the high runoff of water in rainforests, the top soil is often very thin and the nutrients dont go deep. Trees will then need to grow wide but not deep roots, and to help stabilize the tall tree, they have buttress shaped roots.
A rainforest tree copes by adapting to the conditions that exist. Its roots and structure are adapted to balance intake of water and minerals. The structure is also built to withstand the weather conditions.
extreme, without the proper climate and soil water there is no tree crop production
because when the trees are form the nutrics gose from the tree in to the ground :)
RICHsoil in warm climate
No. The tree will cope fine. If you add six inches of soil onto tree roots you could kill the tree,
That tree will quickly rot and decompose over time. It actually takes less time for a tree to decompose in the rainforest than it would in the boreal forest because the climate is much more warmer and humid, which is ideal for fungi and bacteria to be active enough to quickly break down a fallen, dead tree.
soil development has 5 factors that affect its horizons. parent material, climate, biota, topography and time
Butress roots are needed because soil in the rainforest is very thin so they hang out of the tree and collect moisture from the trees
A tree ?
Yes they do! The climate is perfect for them there! Be sure not to lick or touch them though because some are poisonous, silly! :D
Well , It depends on that tree, every biggest tree in every rainforest have different characteristics . Glad I could help.
A Caco Tree
The rubber tree is from the Amazon rainforest in Brazil, so is the Brazil nut tree.
