It really is a matter of survival of the fittest. The strongest will usually always get the top spot. Birth order doesn't always determine the order of dominance, however the weakest is usually the last one out or the runt.

How to Litter Box Train a Kitten?

Training a kitten to use the litter box is simple if enough time and patience is applied to the task. Here are some guidelines on how to train a kitten to use the litter box successfully:Selecting the Correct Size Box and the Right Type of LitterA plastic box is the most practical choice for kittens because they are very easy to clean. Make sure the sides of the box are low enough so that the kitten can climb in with ease. Most kittens dislike scented litter. Buy unscented litter for the box. Place the box in a quiet place in the home. Make sure the box is accessible. If more than one kitten is being trained, there must be separate boxes for each kitten.Begin the TrainingIn the beginning of training, the kitten must be supervised closely by directing the kitten to use the litter box at the appropriate times. Keep the box where the kitten can see it. When the kitten stops playing and starts sniffing around the box, gently guide or place the kitten into the litter box. Lightly praise the kitten for eliminating in the box. Giving kittens a treat after they eliminate will work well. Never give a kitten medicine or scold him when he is near the box. This will keep the kitten from associating the box with anything negative. Cover all plants so that the kitten isn't confused since the soil of potted plants can be confused with the litter box. If the kitten cannot be supervised, confine the kitten to a cat-proof room with the litter box inside. Follow these basic training steps for approximately two weeks.Common MistakesFix any of the following mistakes that could result in soiling on the floor:- Litter box not cleaned frequently enough- Kitten is frightened around or near the litter box- Litter box was moved to a noisy area - Change in the kind of litter used- Scented litter or deodorizing additives to the litter box- Medical problemsNever administer punishment on kittens when they do not eliminate in the box. This will make the problem worse. Kittens are creatures of habit. Once the right box and litter is found, stick with it. If you want to change anything, place the new box and litter in a new location. Keep the old box and the old litter in the same location until the kitten is using the new box. In a few weeks, the change should be complete.

Do kittens always remember to always use their litter box?

When first litter training, it is a good idea to place kitty into the litter box after each meal, before bed, and a few more times a day. If kitty makes a mistake, thoroughly clean the area with disinfectant, and deposit the waste into the litter box, and place kitty there immediately after finding the mistake. Be sure to clean the litter box every day, since a dirty litter box will deter kitty, and will be hard to cure.

For an 8-weeks old kitten living in a two-floored house do I need to have two litter-boxes on each floor or would only one on the second floor be enough?

The kitten wont be able to climb the stairs so you have to have a litterbox on whatever floor it is on. For an adult cat you still only need one litter box on one floor

Can cat litters have different fathers?

Yes, a female cat can breed with several different males and have a kitten from each one. The way cats are made is kind of like the fingers on your hand. One kitten per finger. It is just luck which one is going to be fertilized each time a cat mates.

Does each baby kitten have same dad?

No, not all baby kittens have the same dad. A female cat can stay in heat for several days, and depending on how many male cats mate with her, then that would determine how many dads there are. Each baby can have a separate father. That is why each kitten can come out a different color.

Does multiple partners determine a cats litter count?

Not directly; you don't get one kitten, or two kittens, from each partner. But a cat who has multiple partners in one cycle will likely have more kittens, as eggs don't ripen all at once; the later partner may fertilize eggs that were not ready to be fertilized when the earlier partner's sperm was active.

Why do pups chew on each other?

It's an assertion of dominance 'throw-back' to their wild ancestors. In the wild, a litter of pups would have to depend solely on their parents for food. The most dominant members of the litter would get the 'lions share'. Nipping and biting each other sets up a hierarchy so that the most dominant puppy gets the most food.
