Garbage in the ocean is a threat to penguins and any marine life. Plastic ropes and ties get tangled around necks and flippers. Plastic bags get mistaken for fish or jellyfish and get swallowed, where they often build up in the animals' stomachs. Plastic bottles eventually disintegrate into tiny pieces of plastic which are swallowed by even very small creatures.
All aspects of science and the environment are interconnected. Penguins are dependent on the ocean for life. They live near the ocean and consume fish. Without the ocean or enough marine resources, penguins would not be able to survive. This is also why polar bears are studied by some marine biologists.
The garbage gets taken to a garbage ship and dumped into the ocean or Put into landfills to fill big holes
