How does one get to the back 3 spark plugs on a 2000 Chevy Venture van?

I have a 97 Venture and all I did was lie underneath and used a few extensions. Lot less work in the long run and as long as you have small hands like me, you can reach in behind to pull off and re-install the sparkplug wires. Be patient as it is somewhat awkward but in the long run easier since you are not removing engine mounts and tilting the engine now.

AnswerI changed the rear three spark plugs by undoing the two front engine mounts. With the transmission in park, I pushed on the van to roll the engine as far forward as possible and then had someone block the wheels to keep the engine from moving back. Now I could reach albiet but blind over the top of the engine and feel my way to the rear plugs and replace them. If you are going to replace the plugs, replace the cables at the same time because there is going to be at least one cable that is going to short out on you - just do it all at the same time. when I bought the van I made it a condition of sale that they show me how to break into the van so that when my kids locked my keys in the car, I didn't have to wait for AMA and I made it condition of sale that they show me how to change the plugs and air filter. The way the shop did the plugs is virtualy the same way. Only in the shop, they put the van on the lift rocked the engine forward in the same manor but access the plugs from under the van. This only works if you can get the van up high enough to work under it comfortably. Now you have to realize that this is a 2 hour job 3 if you have never done it before and it is not as easy as reading about it.

you can also get a engine tilt strap j-41131. first set the parking brake. then u shift into neutral remove the engine mount strut bolts then swing the engine mount struts aside. install the engine tilt strap pull on the engine in order to rotate the engine forward then tighten the strap.
