Get one of the portable jump start battery packs. It comes with an adapter that can be pluged into the lighter or acssery outlet this will provid power to the car and allow you to open the hood.
My situation PLUS the driver door key lock entry is broken, and there is no other key entry option on the car, the hood is closed and all doors and back hatch are locked. You need to call a locksmith to open one of the doors.
I didn't know that one would require a battery to open. but if so one thing that you can do is to take the two cables off the back of the switch that opens that hood and add a 12 volt battery. press the button and walla the hood will open. If you are talking about the hood for the engine, it doesn't need power. If you have pulled on the hood release latch inside the car and the hood didn't pop up, it might just be stuck to the rubber seal. You might need someone to help you fix this. Have someone lift up on the hood while you pull on the hood release latch. If you are by yourself, pull the hood release latch and then go out and pull up on the hood - it might still pop open. Note: There is a safety catch that won't allow the hood to open simply by pulling on the hood release latch inside the car. Once the hood is popped, there is a handle under the hood that you have to grab that will allow you to open the hood the rest of the way. While standing at the front of the car with the hood popped, look under the hood or in the grill and you should be able to see the handle.
I had the same problem with my Boxter when the battery went dead. I called the Porsche dealer and he offered me a suggestion that worked great, Go to a auto part store and buy a small battery that plugs into your cigarette lighter for the purpose of starting cars when batteries are dead. Leave it plugged in for about 20 minutes and it gives you enough charge to open your hood latch. Make sure your door is open when you go to pop the latch, as I was sitting in my car with the door closed and trying to figure out why it wasnt working. Now I always keep one charged in my glove box. Good luck! Sue
Well, without taking off the hood, try to pop it open, after it clicks, pull up on the hood. One of the cables are probably preventing it from opening. You could lso have someone pull on the hood, while you pull your lever.

Your battery connections and fuses may be fine but is your battery dead ? I drove to work one day and when I came out of work I had no power to anything. I used my key to unlock the door, opened the hood and even the little light under my hood would not light up. I got a boost, drove the Explorer to the dealer, left it running but locked, and when they tested the battery it had a dead cell, so they replaced the battery.
open the hood and remove the little side skirt next to the battery. i believe its one bolt on top, one hidden bolt on bottom and like 3 alen skrews in the wheel weld.
With another battery connected to the dead one or what a battery charger.
there is no 1998 miata, and once the battery goes dead you pretty much need to replace the battery. It has happened to me before.
When you open the drivers door, one is right there on the end of the dash. The other is under the hood next to the battery.
