Melanotan I is a synthetic product developed by the National Health Association as a stimulating hormone usually for emotional or sexual reasons. The non-official Melanotan , or Melanotan II was developed by public offices that mimic the effect of Melanotan I, usually greatly increasing effect as well. People will usually administer the drug via injection into muscle fat, which the drug will weaken the muscles for a period of time. Most people will sit outside in direct sunlight after taking the drug. A word of caution, the public Melanotan has had extreme cases of counterfeit or illegal purchase! By using a drug, you are exposing yourself to cancer/Heart disease, so it is advised to get a medical document to indicate you need the drug.

Depends on what you consider "safe"... FDA safe? While it has not received FDA approval, both Melanotan One and Melanotan II have gone to human trials in about a dozen countries including Australia. Most recently Melanotan One was approved in Italy for treatment of people that are allergic to the sun. Safe as far as "it probably will not kill you"... Then yes, it probably is safe as literally thousands of bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts have used it (and continue to use it). Sitting in the direct sun continues to be more harmful as you're exposed to both UVA and UVB rays. The only protection against UVA is either pigment or a physical sunblock like Titanium Dioxide.

Definitely one should not be using a melanotan peptide when pregnant or breast feeding as the effects on the child are unknown.
