How do you re-route the belt on a 350 tpi motor so you can remove the smog pump?
Your best bet is to keep the smog pump in the truck. Just take the guts out of it, this will allow the pully to spin freely. Most states require the smog pump for inspection. Thank god it's only a visual.

It is difficult to see from the top since the view is blocked by the alternator bracket and what appears to be a smog or air pump. If you are going to replace the fuel pump. plan on removing the alternator bracket and smog/air pump since the back bolt is impossible to get to without doing so. Then you can use a long extension with a flex attachment to get the socket to the bolt. Good luck because its not easy...

I have a 1998 Mustang Cobra and my secondary AIR pump (smog pump) is located in front of the right front wheel. You might have to loosen/remove the plastic fender well liner to get to it. They are notorious for getting water in the cover that covers the smog pump motor. I'll bet yours is full of water. I have replaced mine twice and it is bad again. I recommend installing a "snorkel" hose to prevent this from happening again.
