not sure which belt you are referring to, but none the less, they are very much the same... locate where the belt is in your engine (about the center of the passanger side in my 2001 gt)
there should be a diagram somewhere close as t how to loop it....
be careful when you remove the old belt.... make sure you uniinstall it properly and don't bend anything inside
sounds like a loose belt, glaze belt
On the front left of the engine beside the coolant bottle..Belt driven but on the smooth side not the grooved (of the belt).
go to www.kbb.com

I found mine on a sticker near the fan shroud
I have a 95 GC Laredo and the serpentine belt routing diagram is "printed" on the top of the belt tensioner mechanism which is on the LEFT side of he engine compartment as you are facing the front of the vehicle.
had to use a 6 ribbed belt. 83 1/8 worked.
Loosen the tensioner pulley. Put the belt around the alternator pulley and the tensioner pulley. Move the tensioner pulley to the right until the belt is tight. Tighten the tensioner pulley.
The water pump is on the front of the engine. It should be close to the center of the block with a pulley for the drive belt on front of it.
This is not a real hard thing to do but can be tricky. Get a manual from the parts store or from AUTOBOOKSONLINE.COM.
