It varies from state to state with election laws. As a guideline- political parties have bylaws. Bylaws are voted on by board members. These board members decide how their primary system works with the public. Investors of the party usually has a conflicting interest with the public's needs as far as picking a candidate. Check to see what party has an open primary. If you register with that party- you can vote in the primary. Some candidates come from a caucus- not very good for democracy. Political parties are privately owned businesses and they are messy. America was not meant to use them. A publicly owned political party is being looked at where the people of a county vote on the bylaws is being looked at. It is called a Nonpartisan political county public service to compete with political parties.

Where does the Work Less Party lie on the political spectrum and why?

The Work Less Party says that you can be a member of another federal Canadian political party, and still join their party too; they are fairly broad on the political spectrum, but they seem to be generally centrist. They exist for the purposes of improved working conditions/fewer working hours/higher wages, as well as anti-consumerism. Their membership per year is quite inexpensive. I am a member of the Work Less Party, but I am also a member of the Christian Heritage Party.
