Subduction results from convection in the asthenosphere. The heat from the core of the earth that is imparted to the mantle causes the mantle to convect much the way
boiling water convects in a pan on the stove. Hot mantle at the core-mantle boundary rises while cool mantle sinks, causing convection cells to form.

The nazca plate
It is subducting.
Convergent with the oceanic plate subducting under the continental plate.
The most common type of plate boundary is a convergent/compressional/destructive plate boundary. The plates are moving together. Examples of this are: Soufriere Hills volcano - the Atlantic plate is subducting underneath the Caribbean plate. Mt Pinatubo - the Phillippine plate is subducting beneath the indo-Australian plate. You get volcanoes and earthquakes at these plate boundaries. :) Hope this helped.
When an oceanic plate subducts below another continental or oceanic plate, the cold, wet, dense rock and sediments slowly dive into the asthenosphere, where, due to the volume of water contained in the subducting plate, the melting point of the subducting plate is lower than the surrounding rock. Volcanoes may result from the rising of molten material created by the subduction.
An ocean plate is subducting if it is flowing under a less dense plate at a convergent plate boundary.

When one plate moves under the other plate
It is subducting.
No. While only oceanic crust can subduct it is not always subducting. When two oceanic plates converge, only one of them subducts.
The asthenosphere is not a plate boundary. It is the layer of Earth's mantle on which tectonic plates float.
The asthenosphere is a section of the upper mantle that enables plate tectonics.
