There can be a wide range. Pads for four wheels can range from around $30 to close to $200. Rotors can range from around $30 to $150 each. Doing the job yourself requires few tools and can be far less expensive than a shop. For example, the full break job on a 1997 Ford Explorer is $43.00 for pads, and $125.00 for rotors, and a couple bucks more for lube. So, you can replace the pads and rotors yourself for under $175.00, or you can pay someone $400.00 or more. Once you've done the job, considering average intelligence and ability with basic tools, you should be able to complete the tast in an hour or less.
I don't know if you are saying you have the new hubs and rotors and still have pulsation, or if you are asking what causes pulsation. If you have pulsation on slowing this is due to warped rotors, and you need to change the rotors and the brake pads, not the hubs. Not too expensive: 2 rotors and brake pads for my Pontiac is about 55 bucks. DIY of course.
If the rotors are in good condition, not warped, not scratched, then you can replace the pads without turning the rotors. Inspect the rotors carefully.
Yes.
As long as your rotors are not warped, or you have not let the brake pads wear to the point they defaced the rotors, there is no need to change them. Just install new brake pads. Rotors can last the life of the car.
The new pads will last longer, work better, and be quieter if the rotors are resurfaced.
There is a legal minimum thickness for all rotors.
The brake rotors are warped are out of round. Need to do a brake job and have the rotors turned are replaced. Be sure to install new pads and shoes.
I believe most mechanics recommend turning the rotors anytime the brake pads are replaced. Otherwise, any gouges or flaws in the rotor will reduce brake pad life significantly.
remove tire calipers brake assembly then pull your rotors off i would recomend putting new brake pads if your putting new rotors you will need a special puller for the rotors cause they are pressed on
You will need to remove the tire and wheel from your 2005 Dodge Durango. Remove the brake pad Springs and calipers. Tap the rotors with a hammer to loosen them. Slide the rotors off. Reverse the process to install the new rotors and brake pads.
New brakes do not grind. If you replaced the brake pads and resurfaced the rotors you may hear a bit of a sound but it is normal until the pads and rotors wear during normal driving.
New pads or rotors
