Just remember the 2 second rule.
As the vehicle ahead passes a lamppost or some other landmark, start to count, once you have passed it, stop counting.
If you counted more than 2 its a good distance if less then you need to slow down.
Increase that time to 5 seconds if roads are wet, snowy, or icy.

If there is a car at an intersection expect it to pull out in front of you. If there is an oncoming car expect it to come into your lane and be prepared to take evasive action.
