This engine was a well built motor overall. The only problem was the lack of a water separator. The injection pump would often rust out because there was no method of water separation in these cars. Once water got into the injection pump, it then slowly made its way into the internal components of the engine. With the already high compression ratio, head gaskets blew, cylinder heads cracked, and crankshafts broke. With the right injection pump and a water separation device, these engines would have been fine.
yes they had a diesel engine but only for 2 years 1984-1986 and the engine was made by Oldsmobile
60 hp @4200 rpm is the power of the Oldsmobile coupe diesel 1978 engine and its maximum speed is 155 km/h (96 mph ).
You'd need to swap in a gas engine. A lot of people believe that the Oldsmobile 5.7 LF9 diesel was a gas engine converted into a diesel - this is simply not true.
If the engine is stock it is either a 3.8 V6, 5.0 V8, or a 5.7 V8 diesel
Using a Diesel fuel conditioner would be good for your engine and would not be bad at all.
Unless it has a diesel engine, yes it has points (could be electronic) and spark plugs.
is the 2000 Oldsmobile alero 2.4 l a good engine
The truck's engine roared to life with the familiar rumble of a diesel.
You will need to have some information ready. It is good to know the horsepower and the torque of your diesel engine.
No such animal, unless you're referring to the diesel 350. Oldsmobile 350 gas engine production ended in 1980. Sorry, but I know nothing of the diesel 350; perhaps someone else will come along and provide an answer for that motor.
Not very good, IMO.
not a good idea.
