How Martin Luther King Jr. impacted ourMohandas Gandhi's philosophy of nonviolent social protest. On a trip to India in 1959 King met with followers of Gandhi. During these discussions he became more convinced than ever that nonviolent resistance was the strongest weapon available to oppressed people in their struggle for a freedom. He was elected president of the Montgomery Improvement Association, the organization which was responsible for a successful Montgomery Bus Boycott from 1955 to 1956. He was arrested thirty times for his participation in Civil Rights Movement activities. He was a founder and president of Southern Christian Leadership Conference from 1957 to 1968.In April 4, 1968 was assassinated by James Earl Ray.

Because of his actions and skill at peaceful protesting, I believe we have far better living conditions and race relations within the United States today.

What he said is not true. If it is, then blacks wouldn't be in prison for their color. Everyone has a thought on black people that they are rappers shoot people do drugs. When people think whites are perfect you think that equal. I know I know Obama president well that thanks to MLK Obama belived that you could and guess what it was thanks to mlk speech so do think everyones equal. Look at people on the sides of the street you don't think they should have a second chance. Look at the somebodiness for people hopeing for change. Don't lie blacks and white aren't equal.

................... well that would be great reasoning if i could understand ANY of what you were saying. African Americans are in the "places" where they are because we as whites did not give them any opportunites to get money back when our ancestors were establishing our roots. when you look back on your family history i garuntee you weren't as bad off as some African Americans. white slave drivers took African Americans and did not let them learn to read and when finally slavery was abolished they could not get jobs because they lacked an education.

and to answer your question; King helped to push civil-rights for African Americans and other lover minorites.

ALL POO!!!!

Im Black So Im Not Bein Racist Bout This.

but we as black, asians, ect people have as much rights as white people.. martin stood up for what he beleived in and the things he knew was correct. bearing in mind the person above is discriminating black people. he/she may have a point that they get treated differentt

Martin Luther King Jr has influenced life today thru his "I Have A Dream" speech. He has influenced life today by starting the civil rights movement. He has influenced our lives by teaching us that respect is not supposed to be given, but be earned. Also by trying to get equal rights for everyone and to try and stop discrimination. He also influenced our life by making blacks become presidents. This includes Black Obama
