How has the change in family structure over history contributed to the destruction of the family structure and its dynamics?

I don't believe that the family structure has necessarily been destructed, but it has changed. But playing devils advocate, I would say that the oppression of women years ago has lead them to be much more ambitious today, and because of their ambition, there is no one at home to preform the day to day domestic duties, which includes taking care of children. As a result, children are spending more time away from their mother and father which can possibly result in them acting out in school or in life in general. The shift that is women in the work place has caused a stir because families are now trying to find a balance between their professional and personal lives. If this balance is never found, many couples will turn to divorce because they never get a chance to see eachother. another option is that a husband and wife will choose to "stick it out" for the sake of the child Whig can cause even more problems than divorce itself.
