How is it that parents have a choice if they want their son circumcised after birth before leaving the hospital but yet they never asked me and my son needs it done but i shouldn't have to pay right?

Yes, you will have to pay. Circumcision is not a medically necessary procedure, and it is not covered at all by most health insurances plans, regardless if you ask for it before leaving the hospital or not.

It's generally not a good idea to have a child circumcised unless there is a medical reason for it. No major medical body recommends the routine circumcision of infants or boys. Circumcision generally should not be performed unless there is a medical reason making it necessary. Circumcision has risks including pain, prolonged bleeding, infection, not to mention the danger of post traumatic stress syndrome brought on by the pain which in the case of newborns is almost impossible to control as well as complications of sedation or anesthesia, and surgical error resulting in damage to the penis. Circumcision has also been shown to reduce the sensitivity of the penis, making sex less pleasurable once the child is an adult. If you son wants to be circumcised, he can always decide so later in life, but most men given this choice almost always choose not to be circumcised.
