It's had both bad and good effects.
Bad:
-it's dangerous: cyber stalking, etc.
-it's bad for us: people spend hours staring at the screen instead of outside. The result is eye strain, headaches, obesity...
-spelling, grammar, etc. is ignored on the internet and proper English is dying out
Good:
-we can keep in touch through email, forums, etc. with people from around the world
-information such as news is instantly available at the touch of a button
-it's useful for research, checking our stocks online, booking flights, etc.
-it's oh so convenient, allowing us to shop at home, check bank balances without going out, etc.

NO, internet dose mor good than harm u r a big succker
I think you meant, "No, the Internet does more more good than harm. You are a big sucker.
I disagree. The Internet does have a lot of good points, but as seen by the above comment, it has dumbed down our generation. Spelling is no longer considered a nessecary tool by teeneagers and younger children. Abbreviatins have become so common, that entire conversations will be no longer than a few letters. In previous years, parents would have to harras their children to come inside, now it is the opposite, with Vitamin D, produced by your body when exposed to sun, now commonly defficient in young people. Now, due to ease of access, 28% of the world's teenage population regularily watches pornography. This issue has begun to breed a generation of social perverts, paedophiles and rapists, our future leaders and employers. Facebook has replaced learning throuh reading, and cyberbullying has become yet another level of possible abuse for school kids. Violence has become a part of everday through the production of super graphic and realistic games, available for free online.
