If we could go back in time to the Old Testament days, the most striking difference in the form of worship would be the sacrifice of animals that accompanied worship.
In pre-Exilic days, we might also see some worshipping the sun, or women weeping for the shepherd-god Tammuz (Ezekiel 8:14-16). In earlier days we could see, in the Jerusalem Temple, a representation of the goddess Asherah, and the serpent-god, Nehushtan, but these were removed by King Josiah, who also removed the horses and the chariot of the sun god.
From the Christian view the complete Bible is applicable today. Christians follow the New Testament, which represents the New Covenant. In I Corinthians 10 1-13 the Apostle Paul tells us that the Old Testament is for our examples. We can learn many, many things from the Old Testament. The complete bible is inspired and true and of much use today. (This of course includes Isaiah).
Nearly all ancient Near Eastern religions had a flood story, and the Hebrew religion was no different. Noah and his family were the sole survivors of the world-wide flood of the Hebrew legend recorded in the Book of Genesis, and therefore the putative ancestors of all people living today.
There are a total of twenty seven (27) books in the New Testament. The New Testament canon as it is now was first listed by St. Athanasius, Bishop of Alexandria, in 367 AD. The New Testament as we have it today has been accepted by Christians since the middle of the 3rd century.
The Hebrew Old Testament is written in Hebrew. The original Catholic Old Testament was translated from the Greek Septuagint (a Greek translation of the Hebrew Scripture made in the 3rd century B.C.) to Latin, and together with the Latin New Testament was called the Vulgate. Today the Catholic Old Testament is still in Latin, but there are venacular translations available everywhere.
