Answer 1: it depends on the food and the alternative beverages. a person could live quite a while, but it would not be a healthy way of living.

Answer 2:

There's actually people that live like that, people that drink no pure water and just drink alternative drinks. It is possible to live a long life, but if the drink contains a lot of sugar you can develop Diabetes and other blood related diseases. If the drink contains a lot of caffeine such as coffee, you can develop heart problems and possibly even sleeping problems. Caffeine causes the heart to pump extra fast to make you feel more awake. If the drink happens to be Vitamin water, it wouldn't do you much harm.

Either way, it's best to drink 1-2 cups of fresh pure water every day. The body needs pure water (pure water= untouched tap/bottled water, contains 0 calories) to flush out all the wastes in your body. If there is no pure water in your system, a lot of this waste will stay inside you and make you sick.
