The length of time it takes to die from leukemia varies greatly. It really depends upon how advanced the illness is, how much of the body it has spread to, the overall health of the patient, and a number of other factors. Some patients die within a few weeks of diagnosis, while others die years later, or don't die from the illness at all.
It can be up to years to survive on chemo. But it is all really up to God,he tells when it is time to go.
There is no exact time period. Unfortunately some people die whilst on chemotherapy however depending on how advanced the cancer is, many will recover.
I'd like to add - if a person is paying cash money for 6 chemo treatments for childhood leukemia how much would it cost? This person lives in the Philippines. Thank you and I need this info ASAP.
yes.
leukemia
He has a great chance of survival if you avoid chemo and radiation.
A friend of mine her daughter was just diagnosed with leukemia friday. She is 6 years old. And has already started Chemo. Now she has Pneumonia. Could this worsen the Leukemia, and be fatal?
No, it is not true. Where did you get that 'information?'
It really depends on the type of chemo and your own hair. Not all chemo causes hair loss. Sometimes it just thins. Could start after a few infusions (2-3)
i want to know if you can take lysine while taking chemo (cancer treatment) dang it!!!
My mother is taking it the night before her chemo treatments. to raise her blood platelets
My recommendation is NO. If you have a cough stay home and call on the phone. When a person goes through chemo their immune system is compromised, colds and coughs are easy to catch something a chemo patient does not need.
I am writing this from my own experience. I am a 2x breast cancer survivor and had chemo both times. I got over my fear by thinking it will kill the cancer and I will live. I have a supporting husband and great doctors and nurses. Chemo is not as bad as it used to be many years ago. There are many drugs available now to counteract some of the side effects. Also everybody is different, side effects can be minimal. Chemo is not easy, but it kills the cancer. If you are the person that fears chemo go to the American Cancer Societys website and look for a chat room for the perticular cancer that you need chemo for, read some of the Q and A that patients and survivors post it will be of great help. The more you know the better the understanding. YOU will survive.
for people undergoing chemo it is just alright to be near that person. however there is a certain type of radiation therapy wherein you need to keep your distance with that person. such form is called internal radiation therapy wherein the cancer patient will receive implantable radiation source. the best way for you to protect your pregnancy from chemo and radiation is to stay away from them. avoid handling chemo drugs and stay away from any radiation source.
