he didnt William and harald Hadraada invaded New answer: According to the interpretation of the Tapestry of Bayeux, Harald was was sent by Edward, King of England, to go to Normandy, presumably to tell William, Duke of Normandy, that England would be his i.e. William's. Harald shipwrecked during his crossing of the channel and William had to rescue him from a rival. William then asked Harald to swear an oath that William would become King at the death of Edward. Harald was then repatriated to his homeland, but reneged on his oath when Edward died. Harald claimed himself King infuriating William. William then took what he believed was rightfully his by invading England. Near Hastings in 1066, Williams Norma ns defeated Haralds Anglo-Saxons. Harald died after being hit with an arrow in his eye. Thus England fell under Norman control and the course of history was changed.
William the Conqueror was the first Norman King of England. He was Duke of Normandy before conquering England. He fought a decisive battle known as 'Battle of Hastings' on 14th October, 1066 against Harold Godwinson, the last Anglo-Saxon King. The battle was only one day long and ended in a decisive victory for William's army.
Yes!!! Harold Godwienson got crowned king during the battle of Hastings! But not for long. Harold Godwienson beat Harald Hadraada in the 1st part but then he unfortunately got killed by William the Conqueror.
Harold Hadrada did not win the battle of hastings he was killed by Harold Godwinson at Stanford bridge. After a long fight William Duke of Normandy shot Harold Godwinson in the eye which made William thr king of England.
To conquer the land of England by taking out the vikings and Anglo-saxansIt would take too long to write who a blow by blow account of Williams tactics in the battle, so for an brief but inclusive account of how the battle was played out I suggest that you go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_HastingsImprove: Harald Hardrada and his army were on the top of the hill. They mad a big wall of soldiers. When William and his army tried to break through, they kept falling down the hill. then, William and his army, pretended to retreat and, as soon as they did, The wall of Hardrada's army "broke" and the soldiers came down to attack William's army. Then William killed every Viking and Invaded!Hope that was a better explanation than going to Wikipedia! ;)The "improve" section is essentially correct, but it has errors in the details. Harald Hardrada was a Viking leader who Saxon King Harold defeated at the battle of Stamford Bridge. William fought King Harold had the battle of Hastings, not Harald Hardrada, and Saxons, not Vikings.

the battle of long island lasted 3 days
The first battle in 1066 was the "Battle of Fulford" on September 20th between the Earls Edwin and Morcar of England, in command of half the English forces and the Scandinavian invaders under Harald Hardrada of Norway. The English lost. The next battle was the "The Battle of Stamford Bridge" on September 25th. It began when Harald Hardrada and the Vikings attacked, but their army was soon defeated by King Harold Godwinson'sEnglish army who had arrived from the south. King Harold then travelled south to a place called "Battle" where the famous "Battle of Hastings" took place on October 14th (Although it was set in Battle.. but you can't call it the "Battle of Battle"). Harold Godwinsons army was tired from the long walk from Stamford Bridge, and this resulted in William of Normandy'sarmy destroying the English army. William of Normandy was latter crowned King Of England at Westminster Abbey, on Christmas Day 1066.
