it used to be 6 months but i was told (not sure if this is true) that if you do not get your license before october you will have to have it for 9 months (once again that was just a rumor i heard i would love if that was wrong)
you have to hold your learners permit for 2 years now before you can get your license. regardless of how old you are.
My son recently just received his learners permit. He needs to hold on to it for a year before he is able to get his license.
