Answer

In the state of AZ ( from start to finish)once you take the classes ( 11 weeks 1 day a week)and your home is licensed, it should only take a total of about 3 or 4 months, if everything is in order, with you, your home, your income and background check.

Answer

In the state of Florida, we had a 12 week class; when my wife and I did it, our home study took much longer than 3-4 months, but the agency that oversaw our study was experiencing some major changes during that time. It took us about 14 months total from the start of our classes until we had a signed and approved home study.

This depends on the circumstances and the home where the children reside. If they are in foster care, than no. If the other parent has custody, than no. If the other parent if a single mother, and custody has not been established, than no.

If your ex-wife had your two kids taken away and put into foster care do you have a chance of getting custody and how long does it take?

You have a chance of getting your children when your ex put them in foster care. No one knows how long it will take. If you are dealing with the same person I dealt with, it will take a long long time.

Can one parent put their child in foster care?

Not as long as both parents have parental rights. If one parent gives up his parental rights which is required when putting a child in foster care, the other parent is the first one in line to take the child since she still have her parental rights. This assuming both are fit to parent. If the parents are not married and the father has not proved paternity in court and got his parental rights he should do so asap and then he has rights to the child. The social workers usually ask relatives first if they are interested in taking the child. There is a shortage fo foster families and staying with family is considered best for the child.
