First Class Mail is delivered in three to five days. It is true of course that it only requires an instant to actually mail the letter, the act of transprtation, sorting and delivery can only begin after it has been placed into the hands of the USPS.

^ That said, I've had basic lettermail take 2 weeks or so, counting weekends. The mail isn't too reliable, especially Canada Post.

For a while I lived in Kansas City and my mom in Vancouver. I could write her a letter and she could het it in about a week, give or take. She could write me basic lettermail (all with proper postage, both her and I) and it could take 1-3 weeks, to get her letters. One day I received three of her letters, written 5-ish days apart, all on the same day!

I would say USPS to a US destination or to a Canadian one (especially a major city in Canada) would be typically quicker, speedier than a Canadian letter to the USA, no matter what time it's "supposed" to take.
