4 - 6 hoursdepends on who is doing the job, if its a pro, i'd allow 4 - 6 hours.

i wouldn't only replace the clutch plate, if your in there, you should also do the pressure plate & thrust bearing also, better to do them now, than have all that work done again in a short time.

Can a clutch on a 1993 Chevy 4X4 be adjusted Grinds hard when going into reverse?

There is no actual adjustment. It's hydraulic. You might have a warped disk or a bad pilot bearing. Some GM trucks had a problem with the plastic aligning bushing on the clutch disk. If it has gone bad your only choice is to replace the clutch disk.

Can you mess up your car using a clutch that is going out?

Yes you can. You need to replace the clutch when you realize its starting to go out. You will mess up with gears. When a clutch fails, it is usually due to a worn clutch disk or worn springs in the pressure plate. If you continue to drive the car with a worn disk, the rivets on the disk will eventually start to rub against the pressure plate or flywheel. You will then have to resurface the flywheel and replace the pressure plate. Before replacing a clutch, make sure it is adjusted properly, since an out of adjustment clutch will slip and act like it is worn out.

How do you replace the clutch in a 2002 saturns sl2?

To replace the transmission clutch on any stick shift vehicle, remove the engine and/or transmission. The engine and transmission must be separated since the clutch is between them. Pull the flywheel and have it resurfaced. replace the flywheel, following recommended procedures. Use a new pilot bushing/glan nut. Replace the clutch disk using a NEW pressure plate assembly and be certain to align the disk using a pilot shaft. Re-install the engine/transmission in the reverse order that you took it/them out.

I have a 1993 Mazda protege that will shift in all gears with clutch out and engine running but will not move is it a clutch or trannsmission?

Well first of all, if your talking about a manual shift, the clutch is. more or less part of the transmission. Sounds to me like your clutch pad / disk is worn out or you burned it up. Which can happen if you slip the clutch all the time at stop lights / signs. In that case you should probably replace the clutch plate and disk replaced, and have your flywheel resurfaced.

How do you know your clutch is going out on youor 1997 saturn wagon?

When you let the clutch out all the way, if it continues to slip, it's worn out. A slipping clutch indicates that the clutch wear surface has gone. Plan on replacing the clutch disk, pressure plate, throwout bearing and have the flywheel resurfaced. While it's apart, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the clutch master and slave cylinders as well. If the clutch will not release when you press the pedal, it could be a warped clutch disk or pressure plate or a faulty hydraulic clutch system (master cylinder/slave cylinder).

How do you fix my clutch on a Saturn sl2?

To replace the clutch, the engine and transmission must be separated. Some prefer to remove the engine, some prefer to remove the transmission, some remove the entire assembly and separate the engine and transmission once they are out of the vehicle. After the engine and transmission are separated, remove the pressure plate clutch and flywheel, have the flywheel resurfaced by a qualified machine shop. Replace the pilot bearing, clutch disk and pressure plate and use an alignment tool to make certain that the clutch disk is aligned between the flywheel and pressure plate. Then reassemble everything.

Your 2000 Ford Explorer XLT will not move when put into gears?

Automatic transmission- check the fluid level. Level okay? Then you have a serious problem. Manual Transmission- You've burned out the clutch. Replace the clutch disk.

Your 1990 Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup has a 5 speed manual transmission with a 350 cuin engine and a hydraulic clutch Within the last couple of days it has become extremely hard to shift and get you?

If the clutch pedal still goes all the way to the top, and there is still about the same amount of "free travel" as you press the clutch, it's probably a problem with the clutch disk. If the clutch disk used with the Chev/350 Pickup tends to have any problems it's that the center positioning bushing occasionally breaks (usually after many miles of use) and can cause the disk to bind between the flywheel and pressure plate, even when you press the clutch pedal. In other words, if the clutch pedal still feels the same you'll probably need to replace the clutch disk. On the other hand, if the "free travel" has increased, you'll probably need to replace/repair either the clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder or possibly (if you're lucky) just add fluid.
