Can you replace top door hinge with bottom hinge on 1992 ford explorer?

You can replace the top door hinge with bottom hinges on the 1992 as long as the hinge is for the cab doors. The hinges for the tailgate would not work on the doors.

Repairing door hinges 1990 Lincoln Town Car?

NOTE: Front and rear door hinge checks can be removed and installed using the same procedure. NOTE: The front door hinge check can be serviced without removing the complete hinge assembly. Perform the following procedure: Removal 1. Open door with broken hinge check. 2. Remove exposed hinge-to-body retaining bolt and retain. 3. Insert a chisel, 267mm (10-1/2 inches) long with a 19mm (3/4 inch) cutting blade, between hinge half on body and back side of hinge check. Hammer until chisel unseats rivet securing hinge check-to-body side hinge. 4. Remove broken hinge check and discard. Installation 1. Loosely place new door check and elastomer reinforcement into body door hinge. 2. Install door hinge-to-body retaining bolt to secure new hinge check and reinforcement-to-body side hinge. Tighten bolt to 25-35 N-m (19-25 lb-ft).

Why do doors stick at the top so you have to lift them to open and close them?

This is usually caused from the door sagging or the hinge pin wearing slightly. Adding a long screw through the top hinge I to the wood framing can help.

How do you replace driver side door blazer s10?

Remove the inside door panel. Disconnect wire harness from inside of door and slide the harness out of the door. Remove door detent spring with proper tool (can be purchased from your local auto parts store for aprox $10). Support bottom of door with a jack or any suitable device.Remove retaining clips from door hinge pins. Have a friend hold the door upright while you drive out the hinge pins with a long punch and hammer. Once the pins are out the door can be removed. Reverse procedure to install. I would suggest replacing the pins and bushings with new ones. Once again these pins and bushings are available from your local auto parts store for cheap.

How do you adjust the driver's door of a 1996 Lincoln Town car so that it closes better?

The adjustments for the door are the hinge bolts. befor adjusting these you should check the hinge pins and bushings. My 96 the passenger door would drop slightly when it was opened. After replacing the hinge pins and bushings it closed properly. I bought new pins and bushings at the local auto parts store I had the same problem but solved this by first jacking the door up as far as possible and then loosen the bolt that holds the top hinge only. (Only one bolt) Then by using a hammer and a peace of iron, I hammered the top hinge inward. Before I tighten the bolt, I checked if the door closed properly. I don't know how long this solution will last, but it works like a new door!

How do you get the front door panel off a 1998 GMC Sierra with power locks and windows?

Hi, If your question is how to remove the door, before starting make sure you have all three replacement hinge pins first it is best not to try and reuse the the existing ones and one of them will be cut so it will not be usable. 1. remove the flexible rubber sleeve from the truck body by pulling it out of the hole; 2. next pull the wires out the hole to disconnect them from the from each other but before doing so tie a sring around them that is about 3 feet long, this make it easier if the connections fall back into the hole to pull thme out with out needing to remove the pnel behind them, place some tape on the sleeve or mark the side that came out of hole; 3. now with a metal grinder grind cut the center pin in half, be cafeful as the sping will pop out when the pin is cut, next with a center punch drive the bottom half out then do the top; 4. next with make sure you have the door secured either with a door holding tool, strong helper or some type of bracing; 5. next slowly knock out the top hinge pin as you do so notice the position of the hinge pin sleeves so you can replace them in the same direction which are on the door side bracket; 6. repeat the same for the bottom hinge pin; 7. pull the door straight out. To replace door, 1. remove the old hinge pin sleeves if they had not fallen off and replace in the same direction they were removed, do not reuse the old sleeves! 2. install the spring hinge pin the one that has the swivel head, use the locking pin clip to hold the pin in place otherwise it will fall out after the door has been open and closed several times; 3. using a large nail or small bolt temporary connect bottom hinge, your partner will need to hold door on a slight angle; 4. now install the spring behind the door arm, very carefully push door back into position and install the top hinge pin; 5. now with the door bottom being pushed in remove the nail or small bolt and install the bottom hinge pin; 6. reconnect the wires and replace the wire sleeve into the wire hole. This should complete the job, good luck! JQ

How do you replace the hinge pin for the door on a 1978 camaro?

The door is very heavy so I have supported it when I have replaced the hinges. If I recall correctly you need a punch and hammer to pound the old one out from the bottom (one at a time). Then tap the new one in from the top. I have run into problems on some vehicles with replacements being to long and having to cut them just a bit.

How do you install plastic hinge for Volvo gas tank cover part number 31265160?

Volvo's fuel door hinge is secured to the body by four expanding rivets allowing blind installation and removal (that is to say, without requiring access to the inside of the quarter panel.) Remove the old hinge by punching out the four rivet expander pins with a long, slender punch. (The approximately 1/8" expander pins aren't easy to see as they've been driven flush with the crescent-shaped hinge. The outside two are centered about 1/4" from each end of the hinge, with two more each about 1-1/4" inboard of those, centered in the spring holders.) DANGER--DON'T use an electric drill to drill out the pins as the close proximity to the fuel filler makes this an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS risk!!! Once the old hinge is removed, carefully assemble the hinge, door, and spring BEFORE securing to the car body. Clean the area of the fuel filler and remedy any rust. With the fuel door open on the hinge, line up the hinge's rivets with their respective holes and press the hinge in place with the rivet gaskets bottomed out on the sheet metal. While a helper holds the fuel door-hinge-spring assembly firmly in place, use a 1/4" drift and hammer to carefully sink the four rivet expanders flush to the hinge. Test the security of the rivets and carefully open and close the door to check alignment and flush fit of the door to the body.

How do you replace the pins on the door of a Chevy S10 truck?

Depending on the age of the vehicle this may be covered under a recall/warranty. Theres no need to take the door off. Do the top first and then the lower. As you look at the door hinge itself you'll see a pin. Look for a flared or flattened end. Take a screwdriver or perferablly a long handeled punch and drive it out with a hammer. Look closely after you get the pin out as there is a bushing on each end of the hinge. If they are oblonged they will need replaced also. Its really not that hard to do, but you will need a jack or better yet another person to help hold the door so it soesn't drop and cause damage. Good luck.
