Starving to lose weight is very dangerous. A person can lose weight rapidly, but it comes with a great health toll and can be fatal. It is also a sign of the eating disorder anorexia. Doing so, the weight is often regained very qickly once normal eating is restored. The best and proper way to lose weight would be with moderate diet and exercise.
To be honest, if you are starving yourself and having no carbohydrates due to this, you'll enter into a state of ketosis where your body starts burning fat as it doesn't have anything else to burn.
But as you probably guessed, starving yourself will only put your body into starvation mode after some time. Regardless of how people try to kid themselves, starvation mode does exist, and it will cause your body to desperately hang onto fats by storing them as soon as you start eating again, meaning it is a very ineffective method of losing weight.
If you have an eating disorder, and are trying to lose a lot of weight very quick, it seems like the perfect method. But in reality it is much less glamourous. Without even including the physical side effects that could take place, in dieting terms, you are very unlikely to succeed because unless you already have an unusual appetite problem, you will at some point reactive or binge eat, it's only inevitable at some point.
It would vary based on the person. A heavy person with more fat would potentially lose more weight since they have more extra fat to get rid of.
Not eating for an entire week, however, is VERY dangerous. Instead, a better way to lose weight would be do diet and exercise healthily.
Starving yourself will not make you lose weight. In fact, it will do the complete opposite. Your body will recognize that it's not getting enough food and will hang on to every single unused calorie that enters your body. The body increases and preserves fat stores when threatened with starvation, instead drawing energy from your muscles when necessary. You may actually gain weight from starvation, and you will certainly lose muscle mass--that's bad, because muscle burns calories THREE TIMES faster than fat.
If you really want to lose weight, exercise is the answer. People look down on anorexia, but who's going to complain if you run ten or twenty miles a day? Also, exercise and lifting weights will increase your muscle mass, meaning you burn calories even faster. Eat salad with lean chicken (it's full of protein, which is necessary for muscle growth) after workouts to maximize the effects. Don't forget to drink lots of water, because dehydration combined with malnutrition is a quick route to the hospital, where you'll quickly be denounced as an anorexic and thrown into the mental ward. Good luck!
Starvation leads to rapid weight loss, which will be seen within a week. However it is not the most successful strategy for long term weight loss, since people who adopt starvation diets will in most cases regain the weight later. Eating a healthy diet with reduced calories will be more likely to succeed in the long term.
It depends on height and BMI, but you also might die before reaching an ideal weight. No matter how big or skinny you already are, starvation will kill you unless you treat it and cure it.
You only have to starve once and you won't care about weight any more.
No simple answer. It depends on the starting weight and how active a person is.
forever, you see you do not lose weight bye simply not eating you lose weight by having a high matabilism i am dealling with want to lose about the same amount of weight and to get a high matabalism you need to nourish your body with certain foods not starving:)-j
Each body and person is different, as is how long it would take to lose 60 pounds by starving yourself. However, this should never be used as a weight loss method. It is unhealthy, and diet and exercise are much better options.
The amount of time would be negligible depending on the person. There's no logic to why someone would want to lose weight by starving themselves. There are many healthier alternatives than simply by starvation.

You should NOT take laxatives to lose weight as it is dangerous to your health. You don't lose fat by taking them, but you do lose valuable fluids and essential nutrients.

Does it work for what? I can't think of any reason starving is a good idea.Any change in weight when taking a thyroid medication will mean that you need to adjust the doseage. Not that you shouldn't try to lose weight if you are over-weight but, keep in mind that you will need to work with your doctor and lose weight at a reasonable pace to keep your thyroid problem in check.Like the first poster, I don't understand, for what?Starving is certainly not a good idea for anyone in anycase.
