Spinal fusion - series?

Normal anatomyThe vertebrae are the bones that make up the spinal column, which surrounds and protects the spinal cord. The intervertebral disks are soft tissues that sit between each vertebrae and act as cushions between vertebrae, and absorb energy while the spinal column flexes, extends, and twists. Nerves from the spinal cord exit the spinal column between each vertebra.IndicationsSpinal fusion is a surgical technique in which one or more vertebrae are fused together to stop the motion between them.Spinal fusion may be recommended for:Abnormal curvature of the spine (scoliosis or kyphosis)Injury to the spinal vertebraeProtrusion of the cushioning disk between vertebrae (slipped disk, herniated nucleus pulposus)Weak or unstable spine caused by infections or tumorsIncisionDifferent incisions are made depending on the area to be treated. The approach can be made either from the front (anterior), from the back (posterior), or both.Procedure: Posterolateral gutter fusionIn a posterolateral gutter fusion procedure, the spine is approached from the back. Bone graft is taken from the pelvis and laid out in the posterolateral portion of the spine that is to be fused. The back muscles hold the graft in place until it fuses with the vertebrae. A fusion will setup within three months and will continue to get stronger for one to two years.Interbody cage fusionInterbody cage fusion uses a hollow threaded titanium or carbon fiber cylinder to fuse two vertebrae together. The diseased disk is removed and two interbody cages are placed in the opening where the diseased disk has been removed. The cages are filled with bone graft. The bone grows through the holes in the cages fusing the vertebrae.Pedicle screwPedicle screws are used sometimes in a spinal fusion to add extra support and strength to the fusion while it heals. Pedicle screws are placed above and below the vertebrae that were fused. A rod is used to connect the screws which prevents movement and allows the bone graft to heal. After the fusion is completely healed, the screws and rods can be removed. Removal isn't necessary unless they cause the patient discomfort.Reviewed ByReview Date: 06/04/2011David Zieve, MD, MHA, Medical Director, A.D.A.M., Inc., and C. How do you take out the stereo to a 2001 Daewoo leganza?

Take small flathead screwdriver and remove front faceplate trim. This will just pop out with a bit of leverage. There should be a screw on either side of the radio cage. Remove both screws and the radio should pull straight out. Unplug the antenna lead and the multiplug lead from the radio. Next, look on either side of the dadio cage. There will be two screws holding the radio into the cage. Remove these two screws and the radio will separate from the cage. Take the new radio and insert into the cage. Installation is the reverse of removal. You will probably need an adapter from your radio to the car's multiplug. Also the antenna lead can be a pain to reinstall on the aftermarket radio.

How do you change the fan on a comfort maker furnace?

Turn off power at breaker. Take off doors. Remove screws from board and allow to hang out of the way. Remove screws from squirrel cage assembly and slide whole cage assembly forward out of furnace, Remove plug from blower motor (if there is one, if not it may be necessary to cut wires). With assembly on floor remove blower motor bracket screws, replace motor with OEM only, make sure it is balanced and reverse process.

How can you fix Derailleur cage?

There really isn't much to fix on a derailleur cage. The guide and tension pulleys can be replaced, screws can be tightened, but that's about it. Straightening a bent cage is possible, but it's really hard to get the alignment back close enough for the derailleur to work properly. I'd buy a low-end replacement rather than attempting something like that.

Should you go to the hospital if rib cage pain has lasted for more than a week?

You should have an appointment with your doctor if the pain in your ribs is continuous, prolonged, and unexplained. Rib cage pain could be caused by a number of things such as a fracture or even a broken rib.

How do you change the blower motor?

There is a cover inside the engine compartment on the passenger side on the firewall.3 or 4 screws and it comes off. Once inside. One long screw holds the "squirrel cage" or round fan on. The problem is usually the electric motor that it mounts to. Swap out motor and or cage.
