As the apostle Paul said: "Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith." (Gal 3:24) Jesus didn't came to abolish the Law that was given to the Jews but to accomplish it. So now it is still important to "obey the voice" of God and follow his commandments, but there is no need for the purification rituals that were written in the Law of Moses, because the sacrifice for our purification and salvation is already accomplished.
