"Expiration Date"? There is a SELL BY date, and on canned goods, and some dry goods, a BEST IF USED BY, or BEST IF OPENED BY dates.
Meats and dairy goods usually are the ones with MUST SELL BY dates...
If its been maintained in a chilled environment and is one or two days after it may be ok. When opening and checking the content look for a watery cream and also small bubbles forming. If you see these together then its time to dispose of it. A slight sharp taste will also been evident if the mayo in the coleslaw is starting to go off. If its a vinigarette then its normally good for 3 days after the date.

Cole slaw is a dish that can be made in many ways - the only limit is your imagination. Traditional cole slaw is made with shredded cabbage and mayonnaise. You can also use a vinaigrette instead of mayonnaise to lower calories and fat and make it easy to use for outdoor picnics, since it doesn't have to be refrigerated. For some added sweetness, add a few raisins. Enjoy!

Sometimes. You have to check the label or ingredients list (on a company's website). For example, KFC's cole slaw is NOT gluten free, but last I checked, Chik-fil-A has gluten free cole slaw. Usually the gluten is going to hide in the dressing. So if you are going to make your own cole slaw, check the bottle of dressing for wheat, barley, or rye. If the company doesn't list allergens, then look for ingredients like "natural flavors" or "soy sauce."
