As a taxi driver I have seen other octavia taxis with over 300 000 on the clock.
Most of it depends on how well it is used and maintained. I've seen taxis in Athens with 450,000 km and still going strong. It's the kind of car you sell much before it needs a major overhaul, extremely dependable. I sold my 1999 Mark I TDI with 250,000 km on it, no oil consumption, no problems, average 6.3L/100 km. Make sure you get only the VW-spec oil into it when required and don't change more often - sheer waste of money.
