No more then 1,200 men ever served in the Confederate States Marine Corps with a peak strength that never exceeded 600 men. Two CSMC posts existed, Marine Barracks, Camp Beall near Richmond was the Headquarters and training facility and Marine Barracks, Charleston, South Carolina.
