after changing anything to do with a code it has to be reset drive 100 miles to reset code
You can't just drive and reset a computer code. First, of course, you have to repair the problem that set the code. If you have an OBD-II scan tool you can reset the light with it. If not, you can unhook the battery cable for a couple of minutes. When you hook the battery back up take the car for a drive...about 10 miles. Preferably with some of that on the highway. That's it. If you still have a check engine light come on you still have a problem to fix.
I just had that happen to my car. The code was not very informative so driving the additional miles eventually led to a usable code that could be resolved. You can make sure your gas cap is on tight, but that is more commonly advice than it is a solution.
generally there is a card or something that's in the owners book with the # for it.. otherwise go by the Mazda dealership they usually have a universal that can solve the problem

If you already fixed the reason for the light, then you have 2 options: Option A is to disconnect both of your battery terminals for about 10 minutes, but you lose all your radio presets and your clock. Option B is to go to an autoparts store and have them hook up the handheld diagnostic machine and reset the code that turned the light on, they do this for free you just have to drive it there. You can also buy an OBD II reader and do it yourself, although not free. (http://www.nextag.com/obd-ii-code-reader/search-html) Auto parts stores will not diagnose/reset the code for free, at least not in California.
