My 1995 Ford Explorer XLT with a 4.0 L - V6 engine came with (a 650 cold cranking amp battery )
use a 65 group battery
buy a battery load tester, or simply take your battery to a store that sells them and have them test you ccv's.
It came with the Motorcraft BXT-65-650 battery from the factory . That's BCI group size ( 65 ) ( 650 cold cranking amps )
Group 34, approx 500 to 600 cold cranking amps.
I have a 1995 Ford EXPLORER that also has the 4.0 litre , EFI , V6 engine and I have always used a Ford Motorcraft battery that is ( 650 cold cranking amps ) * it seems to be quite adequate
Many vehicles are like that when its cold its hard to start #1 check your car battery pop the covers on it and check the cell chainbers and see if there is enough acid inside if not get some from any auto store and top off your battery acid fluid. Like 12$ #2 Your battery might be low on cranking amps. If you dont want this issue and if it was not a #1 issue then you might want to get a battery with bigger cranking amps for the winters.
The specification calls for 650 cold cranking amps (CCA) - but with batteries: more is better.
