To "pray" you have to have a deity to pray to. Buddhism has no deities so Buddhists never pray. They do meet together to receive teachings, sermons, chant, think, meditate, reflects, remember. They do this as often as local cusom dictates, schedules permit, personal desires require, or never.

Buddhist prayer is completely different than prayer in the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam).

In the Abrahamic religions a person prays to god or some saint for insight, or forgiveness or for some action to be taken on their behalf. That is, they are praying for some supernatural being to intercede for them.

In Buddhism a prayer is more like a mantra in which the person praying is reciting a lesson (sutra) or guideline which tells them how to behave and act. For example, a prayer for compassion is "may all beings be well, happy and peaceful". The idea behind this prayer is for the person praying to develop compassion and loving kindness to all. Therefore prayer in Buddhism is self-directed.

With that said how often this is done is dependent on the individual.

Buddhists do not have anything to worship - the presence of a controlling deity was seen as a unnecessary by the Buddha. No god means no worship. Buddhists do gather during the week or at temples to meditate and to receive teachings in Buddhism. However the Buddhist approach to enlightenment is a continuous practice of the Eightfold path, not just a once a week session in a temple or a church.

Prayer is a concept of a person talking to his god(s) asking for something or just generally trying to butter the god(s) up for the forgiveness of a "sin"

Buddhists have no god to pray to so the concept of prayer does not exist. This concept is hard for theist religions to understand or accept.

Buddhists may meditate to understand their own motivations, they may think on the one of the Buddha's reincarnations or Buddhist writing to determine if there is any guidance to be had, they may even use phrases like "Buddha grant me insight!" in the way that a person might ask their dead great grandmother to give them inspiration.

First off, Buddhists do not pray at all as prayer requires a person and the god he believes in. Buddhism has no god, therefor no prater.

Secondly the repetition of mantras and meeting in temples that Buddhists do is not required or regulated by Buddhist "religious instruction" so Buddhists participate n these practices as often as they want which may range from several times aday to never.

None.First off Buddhist isn't based on prayer (praising or offering supplications to a god as ii has no gods.

Next, Buddhism isn't about someone telling you what to do, Enlightenment is up to you and it involves lifestyle choices, not following instruction or edicts.

If by pray you mean "appeal to a deity for guidance or intervention" then none. Buddhists have no deity and seek enlightenment by their own efforts
